It is an agricultural town first and a destination second. The Friday market is one of the largest in the region, there is a hospital, schools, supermarkets and a solid year-round population, and the countryside around it is open farmland rather than cliff and forest. Property costs noticeably less per square metre than Sarlat or Bergerac, and the trade off is that it is further from an airport and from the scenery most visitors come for.

Périgueux is about forty minutes east. Angoulême and its high speed trains are about an hour north. Bergerac airport is roughly an hour south.

Lower prices mean renovation costs can easily exceed the value of the finished house. Work out the end value before buying something that needs everything.
