    Living in Eymet

The arcaded square, the Thursday market and a cluster of cafés give Eymet more life than its size suggests, and the English speaking community means a soft landing for anyone whose French is still coming along. That is either the reason to buy here or the reason not to. The town has a school, a doctor, a pharmacy and a supermarket, which is more than most communes of this size keep, and it stays open through winter. Prices sit above the surrounding countryside because of demand rather than because of what the buildings are.

Bergerac and its airport are about thirty minutes north. Marmande, on the Bordeaux to Toulouse line, is about thirty minutes south.

    Worth knowing before you offer

The pool of buyers here is largely other foreign buyers, so resale tracks the strength of that demand rather than the wider French market. Buy because you want to live in it, not as a bet on the local market.
